About the Hermitage
The Hermitage of the Annunciation is an Orthodox Christian monastery under the omophorion of His Grace Bishop Irénée (Archdiocese of Canada, Orthodox Church in America). Its superior is Abbot Roman.
The community began in Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1995 as a dependency of the Communauté monastique de St-Séraphim de Sarov (Québec). In 2003 the monks relocated to the present location as the Hermitage of the Holy Annunciation. Since 2010 it has been an independent entity.
The Hermitage is located on 106 acres of ancient Acadian forest, overlooking the LaHave River Valley, on the South Shore of Nova Scotia, at 80 minutes drive from Halifax.
